About this tool

Enter two dates to calculate the calendar interval in years, months and days, total elapsed days, weeks plus days, and the inclusive day count. The calculator handles either date order.

Elapsed days count complete 24-hour date intervals, so identical dates have a difference of zero.

The calendar interval adds whole years, then whole months, and then counts the remaining days. End-of-month dates are clamped to valid dates.

Use the inclusive count when both the start and end dates should count, such as days on an itinerary.

FAQ
How do I count days between two dates?
Subtract the start date from the end date to get elapsed days. Identical dates have zero elapsed days; add one when both endpoints should count.
How long is January 31 to February 28?
This calculator clamps month-end dates to the last valid day, so it displays 0 years, 1 month, 0 days. The elapsed total is 28 days.
Which result should I use for a trip?
Elapsed days usually correspond to nights between the dates. Use inclusive days when both the arrival and departure dates should count as days on the itinerary.
Can the dates be entered in reverse order?
Yes. The calculator automatically orders the earlier and later dates and notes that the entered order was reversed.
