Elapsed days count complete 24-hour date intervals, so identical dates have a difference of zero.
The calendar interval adds whole years, then whole months, and then counts the remaining days. End-of-month dates are clamped to valid dates.
Use the inclusive count when both the start and end dates should count, such as days on an itinerary.

- How do I count days between two dates?
- Subtract the start date from the end date to get elapsed days. Identical dates have zero elapsed days; add one when both endpoints should count.
- How long is January 31 to February 28?
- This calculator clamps month-end dates to the last valid day, so it displays 0 years, 1 month, 0 days. The elapsed total is 28 days.
- Which result should I use for a trip?
- Elapsed days usually correspond to nights between the dates. Use inclusive days when both the arrival and departure dates should count as days on the itinerary.
- Can the dates be entered in reverse order?
- Yes. The calculator automatically orders the earlier and later dates and notes that the entered order was reversed.
