About this tool
Calculate follower-based engagement rate from likes, comments, saves and shares, then compare it with an editable benchmark.
The formula is total interactions divided by followers × 100. Do not compare it directly with impression-based engagement.
The default benchmark is an editable example, not an official platform average. Use your own historical baseline.
Single posts are noisy; combining several posts gives a more useful trend.
FAQ
- How is engagement rate calculated?
- Divide total likes, comments, saves, shares, and other chosen interactions by followers, then multiply by 100. At 10,000 followers and 300 interactions, the rate is 3%.
- How many interactions produce a 3% rate?
- Multiply followers by 0.03. That is 300 interactions at 10,000 followers or 150 at 5,000 followers.
- How does this differ from impression-based engagement?
- This calculator uses followers as the denominator. Impression-based engagement uses displays, so the values are different and should not be compared directly.
- Should saves and shares be included?
- Include the interaction types used by the metric you want to compare. Keep the definition consistent when comparing several posts or time periods.
