Quality controls JPEG or WebP re-encoding. Lower values usually create smaller files but can introduce artifacts around edges and text. For photographs, comparing results around 70–85% is a practical starting point.
Processing stays inside your browser and nothing is uploaded. Images longer than 4,096 pixels are reduced to keep the page responsive, so the reported saving may also include a reduction in dimensions.
PNG can be large for photographs, so results are exported as JPEG or WebP. JPEG fills transparent areas with white, while WebP can preserve transparency. Check the reported size because recompression can occasionally produce a larger file.
